Leica Geosystems helps ensure tunnel safety in Singapore's underground train system
When construction of a college campus located over two tunnels in Singapore's Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) train system began, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) hired Wisecan Engineering Services to install an automatic tunnel monitoring system.

A network of 8 Leica TCA2002 total stations was used to monitor a 500-meter tunnel. Because the tunnel is curved, over 2,000 prisms - including 60 bi-directional prisms - were installed at 3-meter intervals on the roof, walls, and floor. With accurate 24/7 monitoring, project teams can be forewarned if any preventative measures are needed.
