PROJECT: The E18 Bjorvika project, one of the greatest Norwegian contractor projects ever, will improve the environment of Oslo’s inner city by moving traffic underground.
CHALLENGE: To build a 1,100-meter tunnel with three lanes of traffic in either direction. Nearly two-thirds of the new tunnel (675 meters) will be below the sea. The tunnel consists
of 6 prefabricated elements, each over 100 meters long, with walls one meter thick.
THE LEICA GEOSYSTEMS SOLUTION: Scan the elements using the Leica HDS3000 scanner and the Leica ScanStation 2.
RESULT: Working with the Leica ScanStation 2, surveyors could complete 11 to 12 FOV scanning positions per day vs. the previous 7 to 8 per day.
