Daniel McPherson, with John W. McDougall Co., Inc. (Nashville, TN), told us how a Leica HDS3000 aided in the interior construction of a complex curved balcony that turned into spiral stairs. The HDS3000 was used to scan the stairs, and then they were modeled in Cyclone 5.4. Using the HDS scanner resulted in a 30-50% productivity gain compared to traditional methods and 2D layout.

  Surveying at the Utah State Capitol Dome
It was dark November evening; it was snowing, and our survey crew was more than 200-feet in the air atop the Utah State Capitol Dome, freezing. David Evans and Associates, Inc. (DEA) had been contracted to provide as-built drawings for the restoration of the historic capitol dome.
