2006 ESRI International User Conference
The 26th Annual ESRI International User Conference, the largest GIS and geospatial conference held in North America, recently took place in San Diego, California. The Leica Geosystems booth provided visitors a unique opportunity to see the broad range of solutions from Leica Geosystems that are available for GIS and geospatial applications.
Throughout the five-day conference, visitors were able to see firsthand the benefits of Leica Geosystems integrated GIS and survey solutions. Product specialists from Leica Geosystems were on hand to showcase leading-edge solutions that maximize productivity and enhance profitability. Leica Geosystems was also a platinum sponsor of the pre-conference Survey and GIS Summit and participated on an industry discussion panel with Trimble, Topcon and the National Geodetic Survey.
The Leica Geosystems exhibit at this conference marked the beginning of a new era for the GIS industry, the Multi-Sensor GIS. Leica Geosystems showcased the world's first multi-sensor GIS by demonstrating the seamless integration of ESRI's ArcGIS with Leica MobileMatriX, a solution that combines reference stations, GPS rovers, TPS instruments, digital levels and laser rangefinders with enterprise GIS software for high precision data acquisition and data maintenance.
"The MobileMatriX solution was received with great interest by visitors to the booth," said Jason Kandrick, product marketing manager for Leica Geosystems. "The demand for integrated solutions and high-accuracy GIS data was plainly evident; MobileMatriX - the Multi-Sensor GIS, represents the future of the GIS industry".
The Leica Geosystems display was towering and could be seen from virtually anywhere in the exhibit hall. A reference station pillar was erected in one corner with live connection to GPS Spider running on a plasma monitor. A second monitor showcased MobileMatriX with a customer project. SmartStation and SmartRover instrument displays decorated the floor. Live demonstrations were given using MobileMatriX with TPS1200 to measure the interior features of the exhibit hall in real-time. "Leica Geosystems demonstrated new and impressive technology advancements to the GIS market that enable mobile GIS users to achieve new heights; it was quite an event", said Kandrick.
