Georgia grading contractor Alan Cawthon likes to tell the story of how he once had to manually offset some stakes from a road's centerline to one side. Using a tape measure, he moved the stakes to the roadside to permit equipment to grade the road. His wife had watched him start the job and came back when he had finished.

Texas police department adopts 3D crime-scene laser scanner to support crime scene investigation
The City of Killeen Police Department has become the first police agency in Texas to adopt the Leica ScanStation 2 from Leica Geosystems, a high speed, high definition 3D laser scanning system able to quickly measure crime scenes and support criminal investigations with far greater speed and accuracy than conventional methods.

The WOW Factor: Leica SmartWorx Receives a "WOW"!
Every version of Leica Geosystems software contains user requested features. The latest product request that made the final cut was a "field to office" application. This full-featured FTP and transfer softare is now built into the operating system of all System 1200 sensors, making it possible for total stations and GNSS receivers to send and receive data from within the software itself. Finally the day has come when a total station or GNSS receiver can accomodate Internet and file transfers directly onboard. To that we say, WOW!
