Leica DepthMaster

Standard Excavator Control System

DepthMaster - the affordable easy-to-use excavation depth indication system. Simply setup a rotating laser and work directly from the laser plan. Information provided inside the cab, will allow operators to work with freedom and flexibility, with the confidence that desired excavation depths are being achieved, first time!

The Basics

Leica Geosystems’ Depthmaster is designed for Digging applications where only indicate control is required. Mounted on the dipper stick it works with any rotating laser and transforms your excavator into an accurate measuring tool.Daylight-readable on-grade indication, and integrated plumb-measurement ensures maximum excavation accuracy, productivity, site safety and uptime.

Your Benefits

  • Compatible with all makes and models of excavator, including long reach machines, dual boom machines and backhoes
  • High-precision – saves time, overdigging and backfill material costs.
  • Increases site safety – gets the banksman away from the machine or out of the trench
  • Increases productivity – no more stopping work to check excavation depth
  • Flexible - compatible with any excavator or backhoe on the market, move it between machines as you need.
  • Maximum uptime - all-day battery life
  • Intuitive, simple operation – no manuals needed!
  • Works with any rotating laser
  • Setup in seconds – get to work quicker

The future of excavation

The Depthmaster mounts either to a standard excavator or backhoe by magnetic mounts.- even leveling work can be done with the same sensor. Different mounting systems (magnet or brackets) allow the Leica Standard Digging System to be mounted on either side of the excavator arm. It is simple to use and achieves best results already on the first day of use.

Levels are set by a standard rotating laser (any of the Mikrofyn Multipurpose Laser ML Series) and the Leica Depthmaster machine mounted receiver. The light bar provides visual feedback to the excavator operator based on the excavator arm’s position. This simple approach allows the level to be matched by the excavator operator, removing the guesswork and also gets the banksmen out of the danger zones, such as deep trenches and well away from the machine.

Grading

Grading uneven surfaces can be done with speed and ease. Just enter the desired depth and slope into the in-cab display or work directly from a rotating laser. Grading has never been so simple!

Formation Layering

Use the system to provide sub-centimeter depth guidance for any application.  Simply enter the desired depth and slope into the in-cab display and create trenches for water, sewer and drainage pipes in minutes - all without the need for grade checkers to enter the excavation area!

Unique Features

Constant Accuracy Band (CAB) - Maintains “on-grade” accuracy regardless of operating distances spot size, or rotating laser type, either ±1/6” (4 mm) or ±1/2” (12 mm) depending on jobsite requirements.

Pole Mount - When used with the optional clamp-on assemblies, the Depthmaster can be pole mounted for use on any machine.

Memory - When the Depthmaster is out of the range of the laser an LED will blink indicating which way to move the sensor to reacquire the laser.

Shake to Wake - The unique “SHAKE TO WAKE” system turns off non-essential electronics after 5 minutes of non-use. It automatically turns back on when your machine begins to move again.

Patented Plumb Indicator - Monitors the excavator’s dipper arm vertically for consistent and accurate grade readings.
